One trend that I have never been enthusiastic about is camo. I didn't think it fit into my style and wardrobe, and I thought that camouflage should be reserved for our dedicated service men/women and people who hunt! :) However, I spotted this scarf on the J.Crew clearance rack recently. At roughly $12 after tax, it is a piece that would allow me to get my toes wet with this trend. I love that it's a subtle camo print, and that there are pink edges! When paired with an all white ensemble, lace and rose gold details, this little bit of camo gets a lot more glam...

Also, I'm honored to be featured on the Wednesday Style Connection today! Make sure you stop by and give these fabulous bloggers some love and link up your post.

Hey fashionistas! I hope you all had a great weekend! It was snowy and bitter cold here. In fact, I braved the arctic temps in the name of fashion to take a few outfit pictures. I know, I'm psychotic. My psych patients must be rubbing off on me! Hehe :)

As some of you know, I'm a huge fan of wearing color skinny jeans to the work place. If paired with a polished button down and jacket, my colorful wardrobe staple gets a smidge more "grown up", if you will. Add a bold lip and this beautiful gem from Benevolent Jewels and the outfit is complete! 20% of all profits that Benevolent Jewels make goes to a charity that they designate, and they're always sponsoring someone new! Be sure to check out their beautiful gems and use code "SCODE20" for 20% off your order.

T.G.I.F! Holy moley I thought this week would never end! I am so grateful that it's (almost) the weekend...for me, Saturday and Sunday mean date nights, comfy chic outfit combos, and this week: GLITTER HEELS! These babies can hold their own, so I was happy to pair them with a super cool tank from StyleLately, berry-hued blazer, and boyfriend jeans.

Lipstick, Heels and Late Nights. I will be indulging in all three this weekend! Happy Friday, Fashionistas!

All Dressed Up & Nowhere To Go!

Do any of you ever plan an outfit before you even have a place to go? That's exactly what happened to me this NYE! When you think of New Year's, usually sequined, glamourous dresses come to mind. Weeks before NYE, I came across this beautiful number from Molly Suzanne and my sequin-loving heart fell head-over-heels! My mind envisioned me all dressed up for the evening, clinking champagne glasses with my beau and friends, and ringing in 2014 in style!

Alas, I spent all day on the 31st driving 7 hours from my family's home, back to my apartment at school. When I arrived, I was exhausted and had TONS of bags to unpack. Adam graciously helped me haul my baggage to my second floor apartment, and with the final load, we both agreed that staying in for the evening was the best option! We invited his brother and sister-in-law over, cooked a huge steak dinner, and played board games. And popped some bubbly. Ok, a generous amount of bubbly ;). As sad as I was to see this stunner hang on the hanger all evening, I was so happy with my reality: a night in, snuggled up with some of my favorite people!

It's funny how the non-plan plans end up being some of the best nights. And don't worry, my sequined love and I will make our debut together when the time is right... :)

Hey fashionistas! I am finally getting back into my routine, starting with The Weekly Wardrobe. If you're new around here, each week, I post my daily outfits from my Instagram, with details to the exact or similar pieces that I wore. One of my passions is professional fashion, and I love to work with what's already in my closet and find new ways to wear my existing pieces!

These past two weeks, I have been in my psychology rotation at the Veterans Hospital. It has been an eye-opening experience that is challenging me both emotionally and academically. Seeing that these men and women who have sacrificed so much for our country are still in such unfortunate situations is really heartbreaking. The verses that I keep turning to this week are these...

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." - Philippians 4:6

"My heart says of you, 'Seek his face', Your face, Lord, I will seek." - Psalm 27:8

The biggest challenge that I have faced so far is finding the appropriate amount of empathetic interaction with my patients. I continue to pray that I can encourage these men and women in the way that He sees fit.

2014 Word of the Year: BALANCE

Ok, so I am way behind the ball on this one. I know it is already halfway through the first month of 2014 (deep breath), but that is all part of accepting this year's mantra: BALANCE. I've never really been a person who makes - or keeps, for that matter - a New Year's resolution. I draw inspiration from where I am at in any present moment...for example, if I am feeling overwhelmed and anxious, I usually turn to quiet prayer time or talking with a friend. If my jeans are getting a little snug, I make a mental note to choose healthier snacks and make exercise a more regular part of my routine.
I that a few of my friends were choosing "words" to base their year around, and I love this idea! I get energized when I see an inspiring piece of scripture, a loopy calligraphied quote, or get a certain word rolling over and over in my brain. So that being said, here why this word means so much to me...
B: Budget
This is an area I really need/want improve on. All of my living expenses come from student loans, which mean that I will literally be paying for every decision that I make during my time in PA school - WITH INTEREST - for at least a few years after graduation. My goal is to manage what I have better, and to be more content in the THINGS that I already have. I love to shop, and probably always will, but I have not been responsible in the past few years. I want to do better for myself, for my future, and for the relationships that are most important to me!
A: Activity
My goal is to stay on a consistent fitness schedule. So far, I've been doing well, and I hope that starting off 2014 on the right foot will set the pace for this year and beyond. AND I cancelled my gym membership (see B for Budget :)), so I want to hear what you ladies are doing to stay motived in your at-home gyms!!
L: Love and Learning
I want to really enjoy this period of my life where I am engaged!! I am learning new things about Adam every day, and I hope that never ends. In a different area of my life, I have the unique experience to get to live the PA life and LEARN every. single. day. What an incredible blessing, and I don't want to take that for granted.
A: Academics
This is the year I am officially done with school. WHAT?! I have been in school non-stop since I was four years old. TWENTY ONE YEARS OF SCHOOL PEOPLE. Sheesh. Some of you might think "What an accomplishment!", whereas I pretty much think "I can't wait to be done! Oy vey the debt!!" ;) Anyways, I graduate in June and will probably be taking my boards in July. I want to make these last few months of PA school count. I want to push myself to really put my best effort in! There is a light (a very bright light!!) at the end of this tunnel...
N: Networking
Some of my blog goals for this year is to make some new friendships and connections! I am so blessed by what White Coat Wardrobe has brought to my life in the past few months, and I'm excited to see what 2014 has to offer. I'd love to meet and work with other bloggers who are going to challenge me and teach me new things. I hope to be more consistent in scheduling quality posts, as well!
At this point in the post, if you are still reading, I hope you know that this component is by no means second-to-last on my priority list. This is just where it fits in the clever acronym. And as a medically-minded woman, I love acronyms!! I want to spend consistent time with Christ DAILY. I am already doing this, but it's not as regimented, and I am probably not being as quiet in heart and mind as I need to be. He is the reason for everything that I am doing, and I need to take more time to be still and make sure that my life is being lived with purpose!
E: Eating
To make it short and sweet, I want to do a better job of meal planning and clean eating!
If you made it through this entire novel, thanks for sticking with me! Thank you for your support, love, prayers and friendship. I am overwhelmed with what a beautiful life He has granted me, and I plan to make 2014 a year where I show my gratitude a little bit better. Happy 2014, fashionistas!!

Scrubs: Cherokee Workwear
Tee: J.Crew

Those of you that are in the medical profession (or any profession that requires you to wear scrubs), you know that the uniform can make you feel less than glamorous! I am always looking for bright accessories and tees to add to my scrubs to make them a little more spunky. When KusiLife contacted me to review their product, I was so excited! These beautiful accessories are handmade by indigenous Peruvian woman, and aim to raise awareness of the extreme poverty that many of these individuals live in. Each piece is handmade, and no two are identical! Kusi means "happy" in Quechua, which is the native language of the Incas. Therefore, KusiLife means "happy life"!

I'm in love with the yellow headband, and the makeup bag holds all of my essentials that I need to stay fresh during long shifts during my rotations. These products are even more beautiful and vibrant in person than they are in photos! I am thrilled to be able to support such a great company, while giving my scrubs a healthy dose of color! Be sure to check out their other amazing products here.
